A New Beginning with True and Timely Data: Reform, Reverse, Rebuild Bangladesh’s Future!

Published by DataSense at August 13, 2024
Bangladesh has embarked on a new journey.
The aspiration is to make Bangladesh 2.0 based upon principles of democracy, transparency, accountability and equity.
One of our priorities is to develop an ecosystem of policy-making with evidence, comprising both qualitative and quantitative data.

The priority must include the following:

  1. Formation of a Commission and detection of anomalies in national demographic, socioeconomic, and other data for systemic factors and political factors
  2. Development of data architecture for generation, processing, and access to data of economic, social, and political activities.
  3. Restructuring of institutions including the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) for producing quality and timely data for making key economic decisions.
  4. Developing a comprehensive data interoperability system for maximum benefit for citizens and business services.
  5. Creating a system of data generation and access with maximum pre-caution of data privacy and data protection from the citizen’s perspective.
  6. Engaging professionals from home and abroad for the execution of the roadmap for implementation of the data architecture with short-term, mid-term, and long-term action items.
True data can facilitate a system of accountability with freedom of speech, which has been largely missing.
Let the new chapter for Bangladesh be based on transparency which will fuel trust, accountability, and progress.
