The New Data Economies of Social Enterprise: Co-translating Research Insights

In June this year, our DataSense researchers had the incredible opportunity to participate in a four-day workshop titled, “๐“๐ก๐ž ๐๐ž๐ฐ ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐š ๐„๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐’๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž: ๐‚๐จ-๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ,” hosted by the Edinburgh Futures Institute at The University of Edinburgh (UoE).
This event marked a major milestone in our ongoing collaboration with UoE, funded by The British Academy and The Wolfson Foundation.
The workshop was a dynamic platform for our research on the digitalized old-age allowance system in Bangladesh. Our researchers engaged in cross-country knowledge sharing and learned from Scotland’s leading innovation agencies, alongside the social enterprises, eSheBee, Community Cred, and Grand Bequest. They also got the opportunity to learn from the experiences of Scotland’s leading innovation agencies – Nesta, Data for Children Collaborative, Data-Driven Innovation Initiative, and Social Enterprise Scotland).
The interactive sessions allowed our researchers to strengthen our data flow, model our ideas, and co-design a digital artifact that will help us advance our project agenda.
We are proud to have been a part of this amazing journey to challenge inequalities, foster inclusion, and promote community-centered development. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to leveraging data for meaningful social impact.
Stay tuned for further insights from our research on the digitalized old-age allowance system, as we will share findings in our upcoming roundtable comprising of experts from the government, think tanks, academia, civil society organizations (CSOs), and individual consultants.
